Hello guys !

I was reading about Thai residence certificate, and found this list of fees at the immigration website,

http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=fee

according to the above list, if someone married to a Thai lady and a father of 2 kids, he can apply for this kind of certificate after paying 95,700 THB? what is the benefit of this residency certificate for a foreigner? and what is the procedure to apply? and how long will be the process duration? etc,, any additional info will be appreciated.

Regards

You have to apply for permanent residency to get the certificate.

There is info here on the immigration website that lists the required documents: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=residence

You will need to be working and be on extensions of stay for 3 years to apply for it.

Since you are married to a Thai applying for Thai nationality might be better and is less costly.

Hi ubonjoe,

the requirements for this certificate look like complicated, and some of them I don't really understand it, supporting alien who already had residency permit etc... w

So what about the nationality?

few years ago, a friend told me they ask for work permit continued work history of 3 years,, and salary no less than 80,000 THB, and payed 7 % of tax ,, this is already a well done suck blood .. !!! what else they need more than this?

However, I did not check it myself, is this correct?

To apply for permanent residency and Thai nationality you need to be working with a work permit and paying taxes for at least 3 years. For PR the salary requirement is 50k baht and citizenship is 40k baht if married to a Thai.

This is the required documents for a PR application if married to a Thai. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/doc/residence/residence_th_sponser_en.pdf

And these Guidelines and documents required for application for Thai citizenship by naturalization

what if the applicant staying on Non-F visa ? which no work permit required,

how to bring it to reality if the requirement saying must have a PR from immigration, and show records for the last 5 years,, bla bla bla,, then to apply for citizenship? it's seems to be double complicated matter this citizenship matter? or I misunderstand?

You have to be on extensions of stay not visas to apply. If the extension you applied for did not require a work permit that would be waived but you would still need to meet the income requirements and be paying taxes.

If married to a Thai you do not need to have PR to apply for citizenship only 3.2 of the guidelines applies in that case.

the applicant married to a Thai lady, father of 2 kids, working in under non-F

again, comes to tax paying,, it will need him to start paying taxes and roll over the next 3 years to be eligible to apply?
