Big football betting syndicate busted in Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- Police have announced the breaking up of a big online football betting syndicate operating out of Bangkok.

Two million baht in cash was seized and 42 account books were taken into evidence showing a turnover of 500 million baht a month, reported tnamcot.

The operation was using four illegal websites and secret accounts to hide transactions. All betting was done by computer on foreign matches.

The bust was a joint operation of the metropolitan police, Division 6 officers and members of the anti money laundering squad. No names have yet been announced and police said that they are expanding their enquiries to others involved in the operation.

A total of 254 people have been arrested in betting related activities since the start of the Euro 2016 football tournament in France on June 10th.
