Two senior parliament officials fired

BANGKOK: -- Two senior parliamentary officials have been dismissed from their services for alleged negligence of duties causing damages to the state.

Mr Pornpetch Wichitcholachai, president of the National Legislative Assembly, issued an order relieving from duty Mr Khunnavuth Tantrakul, deputy secretary-general of the House of Representatives, for not performing his duty properly regarding the delay in the removal of earth from the construction site of the new parliament building, hence, affecting the construction plan and rendering damages to the state.

Meanwhile, the National Legislative Assembly issued an order for the removal of Mr Somchart Thammasiri, a legal advisor, for alleged gross disciplinary violation over his unauthorized decision to lend the Office of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives 3.4 million baht from the parliament club’s coffers for the casting of amulets.

It was reported that Mr Somchat planned to appeal against the NLA’s dismissal order to the civil service commission in order to prove his innocence.

Casting of amulets?????? Thailand always amazes me

Who could have possibly imagined that unaccountable bureaucrats appointed by unelected officials could do wrong??

God forbid the draft charter passes the referendum intact and Thailand is forever governed as it is right now.

Two senior officials fired. Wow thats a new one.

Was the inactive post room full???

fired for not removing earth from a building site....good god cheesy.gifcheesy.gif .....

clearly someone wanted them gone for awhile.. it was just a matter of time

fired for not removing earth from a building site....good god cheesy.gifcheesy.gif .....

But but but, it caused a delay and damage to the country. To me, sounds more like he sold the fill to the wrong person and someone missed out on their backhander.

Likewise the amulets, wrong foundry, maybe insufficient padding in the price.

Seems it's ok to swindle millions of Baht if your high enough up the ladder - but if not, cover your arse well.

I second that "Wow".

I wonder who their replacements will be related or connected to ?

Fired….no-one gets fired even for people trafficking, they get moved to inactive posts.

It's not even "not removing", in fact he was fired for:

"for not performing his duty properly regarding the delay in the removal of earth from the construction site of the new parliament building"

Smells like a personal vendetta.

A "legal advisor" is able to take money from the Parliament's Club? Now, how are they going to party next month? Dancing around with amulets is not fun!

It's in the nature of things for laziness and incompetence to not be occasional failings but established trends. So there are likely to have been other examples from this pair already.

So, bearing in mind Thailand's reputation for nepotism and favouritism, who employed these people, what were their qualifications for the job?

Often as an alternative to firing, based on how many favours they have in the bank... It pays to remember where we are...

Wow! Someone actually tossed for wrongdoings. Now multiply that action times 100,000 to clear out the others in Govt need of purging.
