Cheap Deadly Thai Electrical Junk!

Be careful when you buy what looks like a bargain here, the electrical standards are a disgrace!

Take a look at this Rice Cooker from a Thai Company called "HOME" What a piece of real dangerous junk.

They use that ancient knitted insulation material on all of the cables, there is no fuse, no earth (yet for some reason they decided to link the outer metal case to the inner maetal case with an earth wire - could have probably saved 1 Baht omitting that useless feature)

The wiring is severely corroded and has disintegrated on a few connections leaving live bare wires swinging around in the metal case.

The heating element is "So Good" it has melted the bottom of the metal inner casing of the cooker, then dripped down and melted the plastic outer cover too.

What a piece of Thai Engineering, the pride of Thailand no doubt!

Best pay a bit more and buy a recognized brand (Except for Tefal who charge a lot more but still sell absolute JUNK!)

I wouldn't go that far mate! I am planning to give it to my kids for a bathtime toy! Shocking that they can get away with making this crap. Just a warning for anyone that thinks the brand "Home" offers good value! - It was a cheapo purchase but best to be avoided.

And it is a bit hit and miss here, you don't always get what you pay for, as I said in the OP, TEFAL - They are a rated brand but their products here are a disgrace!

Delete the post for what? Crap is Crap! Are we supposed to live in fear of fools and keep quiet or can we be free to post an honest opinion? It will be on Fartbook soon too!

The thing is JUNK! End of story, if it stops someone getting electrocuted then great. If Thai companies want to produce garbage then they will face the consequences. I know a family that had their house burn down because of a defective JUNK fan....should people say nothing?

BTW, in Thai defamation laws, truth and honesty and good intentions are no defense. If you publish something that harms a company's business, they can prosecute you for defamation, even if it's true and even if your information save lives.

Weigh that up against the probability that most of us already know there's some crazy dangerous electrical products sold in Thailand, and I'd rethink whether the benefit of your information outweighs the risk.

You might find it surprising, but a lot of Thai company's will actually take on criticism and use it as positive feedback and actually improve things.

If everyone says nothing then they have no idea!

I have complained many times over shoddy crap here, despite being told by my wife that it will do no good, believe me, it does make a difference with a lot of companies, especially if they want to sell internationally.

Half of what is wrong with this place is that people behave with a slave mentality, that they have no rights and that their voice is not heard and it will only cause trouble.

If people spoke up, things would change.
