JaiMaai
The house we bought has a True Visions dish stuck to the side of it. The cable disappears under the eaves of the roof into the house but there is no obvious sign of it inside the house. There is however a standard UHF connector in the wall in the living room. There is a feed wired to the back of this socket but if I connect this to the back of the TV with a standard UHF lead then the TV fails to tune to any channels so it doesn't appear to be connected to a TV aerial. Is it possible / likely that the True dish was connected through the UHF socket? Is there any way to check? Try to measure an impedance on the socket or anything. I'm too fat to get through the ceiling access "hatch" to visually trace / check anything..... If so what set-top box could I get to pick up free to air channels? lopburi3
PSI is probably the best box for free channels to use as they keep up there auto programming well and have good quality. This would do it and only about 400 baht. http://www.lazada.co.th/psi-ok-x-2-c-ku-black-403660.html I have been using several of these models for a couple years with no issues. http://www.lazada.co.th/psi-o2x-hd-av-1323635.html Believe TrueVisions offer free channel service (in hope you will want pay channels) so you might want to check that also if any doubt only want free. Daffy D
The Satellite companies don't seem to remove the dish or cable when you cancel the contract. Moved twice and they never bothered about the dish and cable just took the set top box. So it's quite probable that your UHF socket is connected to the dish left by the previous owner. Just bought the True set top box from Tesco's, about 1,500 baht. Its the replacement for my existing CTH box come 1st August - end of service. Its been tested on a previous satellite installation and works very well. It shows all the True channels, with their programme guide, but without a subscription you will only receive the FTA programmes. It also has a DVR facility although you will need to buy an additional memory stick to enable this function. No intention of taking out a subscription with True at this time although the setup will be there if we decide we need more than the FTA programmes. JaiMaai
@nomad97 does the box have a smart card slot? I presume this would be needed for any future subscriptions else a new box would be needed.
JaiMaai
To conclude this thread, I ended up buying the True box and it connected it up and all is well. The box does indeed have a smart card and slot.
