PHUKET: Residents who occupy and live in part of the Pa Bang Khanoon protected forest area are seeking justice after the Royal Forest Department (RFD) allowed the Royal Thai Navy to occupy some of the land they occupy.

Mr Sorasit Sasuay, 44, and Mr Maair Wisit, 64, spokespersons for a group of residents that occupy and live in the Pa Bang Khanoon protected forest yesterday (July 15) approached the Phuket Reporter Club to asked them to investigate why officials from the RFD and Navy officials wanted to take back the land they were living in and build an office there leaving the residents very distressed.

Mr Sorasit explained that more than 200 people have been living in the area, which covers more than 2,000 rai, long before 1998 when the area was surveyed by the government to see how many people lived there.
“But today the RFD let the Navy use 1,600 rai of the area where residents live to set up a command centre to assist people during emergency disaster evacuations..
“This group of residents were living in the area prior to the year 1998 but we believe they were not included in the land survey that took place on December 2 1998.

This is an outrage! They stole that land fair and square.

My thoughts on these poor people: violin.gif

Wouldn't that have been the time to object?

Why do you presume they knew about that survey and its conclusions?

Doesn't matter. they are profiting from the proceeds of crime. they have neither the moral, nor the legal basis upon which to complain.

Thieves cannot demand that the courts protect their illegal occupations as thieves.

First of all your rant has nothing to do with my comment.

Second, in Thailand they do have something to complain, residing on land gives rights here.

Hang on Sherlock; Do the people own the land? Do the people have the Chanote to the land that the are living on? ,, I guess not sherlock,,

If you plan to occupy and built a dwelling you'll have to make sure that you own the property ,,,Or have a Legal Written lease that you can occupy that property. thumbsup.gif
