He wants to come back to Thailand and why not. Why the upheavel, the bs spun by Suthep and his ilk. Let the man come back and then no more divide in Thailand.

You would not believe the divide in Thailand if he came back.

A civil war maybe?

Would hope so, country needs a shake up !!

Maybe Thailand needs a shake-up.

But certainly not a civil war.

china steals, period.

Merica stole a whole continent from the Indians, ...there is nothing on China's rap sheet even close to that wink.png

So you might want to check that splinter in your own eye...

Tibet, maybe?

Just wait, soon.

How could they're be a civil war?

Unless you mean a split or divide in the military a bit like what's happening in Turkey right now.

Do you really think civil war is a possibility in Thailand?

Seems in my opinion to be very, very unlikely to happen. A minor flare up, but full blown war? Nope, can't see that.

You can say that for many countries. China is a copy culture. They copy products, steal ideas, ride on the backs of real creators. They will be able to rise to a certain level, but as wages rise, there will be no large rewards for exports. I admire their ambitions and work ethic, but communism and creativity do not have a healthy relationship. There are still people that remember the Cultural Revolution!

What are China's ambitions in dealing with Thailand?

Do they prefer Prayuth or Thaksin?

Seems to me that Thaksin was easier to deal with than Prayuth.

As Thaksin is a self-made Billionaire. Wouldn't he know better about economics than Prayuth? If I had money to invest I'd rather give it to Thaksin than Prayuth.

'Wilsonandson': '...Thaksin is a self-made Billionaire': do you really believe that crap, or do you just propagate false information?

He quite often propagates false, untruthful and divisive information.

Chinese were given farang industries cos of their cheap labour....If the Chinese paid farang wages they would still be in the dark ages..

As the Chinese have to up prices the farang will do industrial stuff at home, which will be great...

They are already starting to do so, even before Trump (who is planning to get more industries to return manufacturing to America) gets into office (or even if he doesn't). A refrigerator manufacturer is moving back to Kentucky from China. And more may follow suit.

That's good news for the American economy.

However, I don't see the same happening to Australia. No matter how high Chinese wages become and how much manufacturing moves back to the USA, nothing will ever move back to the socialist basket case economy that is Australia. Australia's de-industrialization project is almost complete and the powers that be have no intention of making a turnaround. Name me one manufacturer that has recently set up shop in Australia? Even so-called "Australian made" goods use a large amount of raw materials from overseas. Harvey Fresh, an Australian fruit juice manufacturer (just to give an example) imports fruit juice concentrate from China, despite there being ample supply of fruit in Australia. Perfecto Italiano imports and packages NZ parmesan cheese rather using Australia parmesan cheese. It's absolutely appalling.

Australia would also never impose new tariffs on imports to protect their industry, yet the US and even the EU have no problems doing so? Can anyone explain this to me? I would think a small, isolated economy like Australia's should be the first to impose protective tariffs!

Australia: the land of imports.

Well I think at least Prayuth knows that it's best to keep the Chinese at bay. He doesn't want the Chinese high-speed railway project and the Land Transport Department recently effectively banned Chinese cars from entering Thailand for tourism. They apply the same rules to other foreign registrations (advance applications for entry must be made before arrival) but unlike the Chinese, third country registrations are being given exemptions to allow entry more quickly and with fewer restrictions than the Chinese. Then again, the Chinese were the ones coming in in ever larger numbers and causing accidents and fleeing the country, not third country nationals, so maybe this unequal treatment is justified after all.

My guess is Thaksin loves China so much if he were still in power today he would hand the Thai economy and perhaps the entire country to the Chinese on a platter and he wouldn't care that the only country that benefits from this is China itself.

He could have come back easily. And then after arriving, of course spend his legitimate jail term

Just wait, soon.

Tibet is but a teardrop in the ocean, & technically might actually belong to China.

There is no argument to be had that American ever belonged to Europe given the distance.

The holocaust numbers vary wildly, but anything from 10's of millions to a 100 million Indians died as a result of European insurgency.

...so, people in glass houses might think carefully before throwing stones!

Not sure where you learned that but even mainstream sources acknowledge most Indian deaths were due to exposure to diseases they had no immunity to. Relatively few Indians were "slaughtered" as you claim and also, some of them even slaughtered European explorers and settlers, remember Captain Cook in Hawaii? And 10s to 100s of millions of Indians never lived in what is now the USA. Not even close - a loose collection of tribes with maybe a couple of million people at most. If you look back at global population statistics, before the beginning of the 20th century there were never more than a few hundred million people living in the world globally, let alone in America.

The U.S. Army's distribution of smallpox infested blankets to the Mandan Indians didn't help.

So when Prayut warms to Chinese relations and looks towards China he is labeled a communist.

When Thaksin (who also had relations with China though not as robust as with Prayut) says "Look towards China" the comments are "Say what you please in response but the bottom line: he's correct ( however irksome some might find it)"

Haha. thaksin supporter logic right their folks.

One was a popularly elected official brought down by a coup. The other is a coup leader who has given himself god like powers. Thaksin is a better roll model for the Chinese government than the pouting general, because he was elected by a majority.

You just cannot make somebody like the general look good no matter what you do.

Thaksin was not in power when the coup occurred. No one was after a corruption riddled election was annulled.

There was however a caretaker government with very limited power.

This was led by Pol Gen Chitchai Wannasathit from 5th April until 23rd May 2006 when he resigned as caretaker PM when Thaksin took back the position of caretaker PM until 19th September 2006 when he was removed in a coup.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Prime_Ministers_of_Thailand

thaksin said he was the caretaker pm, however legally he was not.

Therefore he was not brought down by a coup as, in terms of legitimacy, he wasn't there to be brought down.
