my 3entry tourist visa is about to die. need more time here

Featured Replies

Hi TVF

My 3 entry visa is about to die (after extentions) on the 6th of aug
i havnt book my flight out just yet but im planning to leave on september 11-21
im kinda shore on money and energy for this last time so i dont really wnat to go out and obtain for a new visa unless its a quick cheap trip
for now my plan is to go out to the myanmar border next to kanchanaburi (like last time) pay the 910thb (cant i do it for less somehow?) and after getting my 14days transport visa to extend it again 30 days for 1900thb at the imm office
i have to mention that this is my first time coming back in with no visa

what do you think?
any suggestion would be nice here
im located around ayuthaya area
thx

  • You can't get a (out/in) visa exempt entry at that border.

You could do it at the Ranong border, otherwise you'll need to use one of the Laos or Cambodian crossings.

You will not be able do a crossing at the Ban Phu Nam Ron to get a new visa exempt entry. The only allow crossings if you have a valid Thai visa for re-entry. You will need to do a crossing to Cambodia to get the visa exempt entry (30 days if from a G7 country).

Other than the choice of crossing you should not have a problem with your plan since you apparently have not done done any visa exempt entries recently,

thank you for that. think you just save me a lot of trouble
can you please explain to me how is it possible that one border allow it and the other doesnt?
maybe its a better idea to go to savanaket and just issue 1entry visa?
i was trying to avoid the visa fee and passport sticker for the other country such as cambodia/laos but now i see there is no other way so it will be smarter to spend a few hours more and a 1000thb to get 60days instead of 14days trasport visa+1900thb extention

Immigration can set their requirements to do a crossing. In this case it may be Myanmar immigration that has some input about it. Out of 4 crossing to Myanmar only the crossing at Ranong are allowing them for visa exempt entries.

Getting a single entry tourist visa might be the best option. You could get one in Vientiane also.

Visa exempt entry has been abused for years by people living/working here and immigration have been cracking down on it. Each border can apply local rules based on problems/demand at that border. You can get a visa exempt entry at the Kanchanaburi border, but only if travelling from Myanmar. They don't want same day out/in entries as a way to extend a stay.
