5 Dhammakaya monks ask for postponement of interrogation with DSI

BANGKOK: -- Five senior monks of Wat Dhammakaya have asked for a postponement of interrogation session with officials of the Department of Special Investigation scheduled on Friday.

DSI chief Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang disclosed on Thursday that he was informed by Pol Lt-Col Pakorn Suchivakul, chief of the financial and banking litigation office of the postponement of the interrogation session by the five monks, claiming that they have been engaged in religious activities and could not attend the session.

They, however, asked to postpone the session until the end of this month or early august, said Pol Col Paisit, adding that he instructed Pakorn to make sure that the monks would be allowed just one postponement only because the DSI needs to quickly wrap up the case regarding money laundering and receiving stolen objects charges against Phra Dhammachayo, the abbot of Wat Dhammakaya.

The five senior monks to be questioned by DSI officials in connection with the money laundering and receiving stolen objects charges are Phra Thawalsak, Phra Khru Baideeka Amnuaysak, Phra Thattachivo, Phra Maha Somchai and Phra Sutham Suthamno.

Pol Col Paisit warned that if the five monks refuse to show up again for questioning, the will be dealt with in accordance with legal procedure.

Meanwhile, former aide to Phra Dhammachayo, Dr Mano Laohavanich, said that the embattled abbot would never turn himself in to acknowledge the two charges against him.

The only way for the police to bring him to acknowledge the charges is to raid Wat Dhammakaya and then arrest the abbot, said Dr Mano, an outspoken critic against the abbot and his temple.

But the DSI chief brushed aside Dr Mano’s suggestion of the use of Section 44 of the interim charter to arrest Phra Dhammachayo, noting that the case can still be dealt with with normal law.

And the soap goes on.. facepalm.gif

They certainly know how to play the game.

cheesy.gif Requested a postponement, what a surprise !

Only one postponement will be granted as the DSI needs to wrap the case up quickly !

Oh really and what have they be doing up to now, sending out ' pretty please ' letters to get the Abbott, who is running rings around them, to grant an interview !

If the monks don't attend for interview when arranged they'll be dealt with according to law ! We might see a first here but don't hold your breath. cheesy.gif

Oh, ok.

Pathetic.

Laughing stock of the western World.

It's hard to decide who is making who look the silliest!

I suppose when the courts are contemptible, there is no charge of contempt of court.

Pol Col Paisit, adding that he instructed Pakorn to make sure that the monks would be allowed just one postponement

How many postponements are politicians, actors, wealthy people and other VIPs allowed? Seems only fair that a monk should have the same number as Yingluck for instance.

...selective justice....???

...very confusing......

If ever I am wanted for interrogation, or a visit to the Police Station, I have the perfect answer. Too busy -engaged in my religious pursuits.

Just arrest the buggers. Being a monk gives them no special powers on earth!

They certainly know how to play the game.

Don't they all and If I were head of DSI or anybody with half a brain in the legal system, something like our star witness/ informant/ consultant, (apparently or allegedly) starting his own self-glorifying web site would take the wind out of my sails to reflect on the motives and validity of information we've been provided with and swallowed like gospel.

"..claiming that they have been engaged in religious activities and could not attend the session."

When you worship money, that is a 24/7 job. I wish this were unbelievable, but I have been here too long to think that.

Already 30 years ago I read a book "Thai Ways" explaining that in Thailand the culture prefers not tackle problems head on but to kick the ball forward until finally it is so rotten that it explodes in your face

again we see the pathetic police force ignoring their duty, how can anyone hold any respect for these morons when they refuse to carry out their duties. These monks are criminals yet the police refuse point blank to actually arrest them, there should be no ifs or buts about it, they need to go in there now and drag these corrupt mongrels out and charge them.

They need more time to get their story straight.

regards worgeordie

Well if postponement fails we can all get ready for the inevitable medical crisis.

Surely the council must do something they just can't be seen letting monk after monk day after day bring down the Buddhist religion and their fundamentals.

Nothing new here rolleyes.gif lets move on whistling.gif

Pathetic.

Might be true if anyone outside Thailand knew about this or cared about this.

claiming that they have been engaged in religious activities and could not attend the session.

This can be interpreted in two directions.

Either they are all their lives, as monks, busy with relegious activities.
So they will never have time.

Or there are times when they are not busy with religious activities.
What will they do then?
Temple Management, counting money, perform bank remittances, buy land, speculating on the stock market, transfer funds abroad, open bank accounts, close bank accounts, manage donations, pay wages for press secretarys, booking of travel expenses, etc?

This interrogation is never going to happen. All sorted a long time ago.

And we will see you again next week at the same Bat time and same Bat channel.
