Registration for government welfare scheme under target

BANGKOK, 22 July 2016 (NNT) – Banks facilitating registry for the government’s new welfare scheme have reported registrations are below target and they will soon be adjusting their promotional strategies.

Director of Government Savings Bank (GSB) Chartchai Payuhanawichai reported that the government’s welfare scheme for citizens with income of less than 100,000 baht a year, which was open for registry since July 15, has seen only 113,000 registrants at GSB, far below a target of 2-3 million for the month. He said the bank will soon launch a promotional campaign to generate awareness of the scheme and its benefits.

At Krung Thai Bank, Vice President of Operations Songpol Cheewapanyaroj made known his bank saw 93,377 people sign up for the welfare program, below expectations. The bank is also to launch a promotional campaign for the scheme alongside campaigning for registration with the new Prompt Pay e-payment system.

The bank has logged 800,000 applicants for Prompt Pay since July 15 but has forecast it will only hit 5 million applicants by year end, coming in under a target of 8 million. Songpol said the government must work harder to create understanding of the new system and undercut misinformation being spread online.

I believe as many do that "prompt pay" has some serious security flaws, you use at your own risk, so if your account gets hacked its your responsibility not the banks(they said so last week).

Banks such as Barclays, who are years ahead in matters of bank security, got hacked for millions so a Thai bank should be a piece of cake to hack as the Bank of Thailand secretly knows. Apple's encryption system has been broken, and Paypal accounts have been hit and both those companies are very professional.

Are Thai banks still using Windows XP or Windows 7 like other government offices still do?
