CAMBODIAN CIVIL SOCIETY RESPONSE

The procession has brought together Cambodians and civil society groups from all walks of life. In the immediate aftermath of the killing, Cambodian civil society issued a statement expressing its outrage at the death of Kem Ley, while praising his fearless free expression in the name of justice and democracy in Cambodia.

“Kem Ley was a brave and outspoken critic of the government, and now his voice has been silenced. His murder might be an attempt to intimidate other critical voices, but : Cambodian people will continue to express our opinion, exercise our freedoms and speak out.”
