Pattaya to Koh Larn Ferry

PATTAYA:-- The Director of Pattaya Marine Department yesterday called in the ferry operators to remind them of marine safety and outline the Pattaya Beach expansion initiative.

Aekarat explained that Pattaya is a famous beach city and many tourists travel here every year. He said that even though there are thousands of ferry crossings this was not enough during the holiday period.

He also reminded them that tourist safety has to be the number one priority and operators have been instructed to install safety equipment ‘in order to prevent accidents.’

The marine department are working with Pattaya City officials to cope with beach erosion and help expansion. The City has provided nearly 430-million baht for this project.

operators have been instructed to install safety equipment

........ so up to this point in time, and with all the accidents / deaths, and all the "crack-downs" in safety, nothing has actually been done !!

Farcical beyond belief.

Of course nothing has been done! How do you expect people who don't know what they're doing to come up with a solution??

As for the safety equipment directive, that's hardly going to prevent an accident is it???

Bet they all had nodded off by the time he got to that item... coffee1.gif

Until a few boat crew, captains and operator are locked up long time for manslaughter expect all requests to improve safety to go in one ear and out the other.

That's what those ferry operators needed; a darned good talking to.

From heron there will be no more tourist boating accidents.

Interesting that the Marine department have installed cameras on certain dive boats which are generally extremely safe but zilch on the ferries! I won't even begin about speedboats.

Which boats have all the accidents?

The cameras should be used to film the morons on jet skis who bomb around where divers are diving, but there again what would the authorities do when handed the evidence? probably nothing.

Yes right on par with the (another) beach restoration project announcement. So far nothing but decaying giant sandbags, concrete construction junk, and one sorry mess

of construction trailers at South end.
