A man was arrested by police in Ubon Ratchathani’s Phibun Mangsaharn district on Tuesday after he was seen at a fresh market in the municipal area shouting and urging shoppers to boycott the referendum on August 7.

The suspect, 48-year old Vicharn Phuviharn, who lives in Nong Khaem district in Bangkok Metropolis, was sent to Phra Srimahapho hospital in the Muang district immediately after his arrest by an order of Pol Col Sophon Kruachao, the police superintendent, who suspected that he might have mental problem.

However, doctors at the hospital found Vicharn mentally stable and he was later escorted back to the district police where he was charged with inciting unrest with an intention to encourage voters to boycott the referendum.

Vicharn claimed that he was a member of a political party which is opposed to the referendum. Police said that, three years ago, Vicharn was among a group of protesters who trespassed into the Cambodian military zone at Khao Phra Viharn temple ruins to protest against the International Court of Justice’s ruling to grant Cambodia the right over the 4.6 square kilometer area around the temple.

Meanwhile, in Muang district of Ubon Ratchathani, police on Wednesday searched the house of a suspect, 25-year old Atithep Imvuth, arrested a day earlier for wearing a T-shirt printed with the words “Vote No Constitution”.

After about one hour search, police did not find anything illegal.

Atithep claimed that he was given the T-shirt by a friend and wore it simply because it looks great. He was later released after the interrogation.

The Junta are so paranoid, if they don't get their own way, watch the screws turn, and their nastiness and true colours begin to show.

You had Meechai spouting all sorts of drivel today, about the unrest, if he stopped being a whipping boy for the Junta, people might, just might start believing them, personally I think this is all smoke and mirrors to announce within the next 7 -10 days that "The situation within the country has become too unstable to hold any sort of referendum, they cannot allow any chance of civil unrest, and they will cite "dark forces" and call it a threat to National Security"

Delay this till early next year, push any chance of an election into early 2018, they don't want this charter accepted any more than they want it accepted, as they don't really care, both lead to their end goal, reforms first, deal with the possibility of a major upset, delay some more, seriously folks, does this Junta sound like they really want to step back, relinquish control of the States coffers and hand the country back over to a chosen representative of the people?

Its okay for Meechai(shouting his mouth off for a yes vote in the news), Suthep (supporting the yes vote on his facebook page) and for many other government officials to actually tell people to vote "yes", even though its supposedly illegal BUT say "no" and one is quickly arrested.

Is this referendum free and fair? Hell it ain't!

For shits and giggles someone should catch a few monkeys, throw a "vote No" t-shirt on them stuffed with shredded bits of pink paper, and let them loose, and sit back and watch the fun, and a massive sense of humour failure and feet stomp, teddy tantrum.

A hugely unpopular journalist in Thailand whose wife was recently detained is saying there could well be major news within the next 24-48 hours. Let's wait and see...

do you remember post coup, the Junta cheerleaders said the anti Junta crowd were bitter and twisted, minority red shirt supporters? It doesn't seem the anti junta sentiment is the minority now, the banner wavers are few and far between these days.

Something to do with a recent "tourist" to Germany and the Bild newspaper perhaps?

So now someone with a dissenting view has a "mental problem".

Of course, acting against the norm(being a mindless sheep) is deemed as odd(black sheep syndrome), and therefore "odd" people that do not "fit in"(because they stand out/speak out), are considered odd in the head and that means that they must have a mental problem.
