Bomb threat against revenue office turns out to be misunderstanding

BANGKOK: -- Office workers inside the Phayathai Building were evacuated in panic only to be informed that there was a misunderstanding.

Initially, a public relations offer for the 28th floor, where a branch office of the Revenue Department is located, informed security officials that she had received a call informing that a bomb had been planted inside the revenue branch.

Security officials immediately evacuated workers from all offices in the building and alerted police to check the 28th floor.

The evacuation order caused panic among residents of the building.

Police from Phayathai Police station rushed to the scene and searched through the office and found no bomb.

Police later interrogated officials and found out that an official simply called the PR officer that a power transformer exploded but she misunderstood it as a bomb had been planted inside the office.

Building officials informed tenants of the building through a public addressing system and workers gradually returned to their work.

Bomb threat at Revenue Departmentwas a misunderstanding

Police indicates that the bomb threat at the Revenue Department in Phya Thai Plaza Building is a misunderstanding of a public relations officer.

Police officers from the Phya Thai Police Station have raided the building and found no suspicious objects after they were reported of the bomb threat there.

After the police questioned the Revenue Department’s official who claimed to receive a phone call threatening to detonate a bomb inside the building, they conclude that it is just a misunderstanding between this official and the public relations employee of the Phya Thai Plaza.

The revenue officials tell the police that he called to alert this public relations stationed on the 28th floor that an electricity generator in the building has exploded.

The public relations did not hear the voice clearly and took the call as a bomb threat, resulting in frenzic chaos.
