pgrahmm Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2016/07/29/five-stages-culture-shock-foreigners-thailand From Coconuts...... 5 Expat stages defined..... Which are you?
PocoLoco Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I can't define myself in any stage because the article is too simplistic with bad examples and poorly written. It's an interesting article concept though, wish someone could rewrite it.
Carib Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I am on my own stage, always have been and refuse to be categorized.
gamini Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 A really ignorant article. The writer obviously has probably only met a certain type of expat, ones who never lived anywhere else and come from some small town somewhere. He doesn't seem to have met expats who travelled and lived in other countries and been exposed to different cultures. Most of my expat friends had never suffered any cultural shock. Like myself they have many Thai friends, speak the language, accept Thai ways and have made this country thier home. Most of us travel a lot but not necessarily to the countries that we came from. The writer has completely ignored these kind of expats and there are many of them especially amongst the older generation
CharlieH Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Pointless having two topics on same article. Please continue here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/935068-the-five-stages-of-culture-shock-for-foreigners-in-thailand/
