August 6, 20169 yr I have a type o visa (1 year w/o leaving the country). I have to renew it in a few weeks. I've got all the paperwork together. The question is: do I have to take my daughter to immigration with me? She is in school and I'd prefer to not have her miss a day. I haven't found any information that mentions whether she or her mother (my girlfriend (not married)) have to be present. They were with me last year but my daughter is not one to suffer long stays in an immigration office gracefully. I'll be going to the Jomtien immigration station if it makes a difference.
August 6, 20169 yr It appears you have a one-year extension of stay stay for the reason of living with your daughter of Thai nationality and wish to apply for a new extension of the same type. Your daughter has to accompany you for your application. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
August 8, 20169 yr Author That's correct. I have a visa to care for my daughter. I was hoping to not yank her from school to take her to the immigration office. She was a pain in the butt last year. Really depends on the wait time.

The female officer told me in no uncertain terms to NOT bring my daughter. For reasons unclear to me, they did want my daughter's mom/my girlfriend (not married) present even though this is not a marriage visa. I'm curious regarding what would happen to someone who is on bad terms with the mother/father of a Thai child if they could not convince them to help out. For the paperwork: 1) 2 copies of everything. 2) The 2 pictures with family (at the door showing the door number and inside the house/condo) must be in color and they prefer that they both be placed on a single page. 3) Passport images do not need to be in color but they must be exact passport size... I place this here because I scanned mine on a home scanner and they were large so they we not accepted... I returned after having resized them in photo editing software and they said they were a little small and so were not accepted again. I, finally, just went to the copy service next to the immigration office and had them copied. They were accepted. 4) The tambien ban (blue house book) must have the child's name on it. This is new from last year when I just used my condo blue book. This was a pain in the butt because my daughter's name is on her Thai family house book in Ban Pong. After some miscommunications, they send me pictures from a phone camera. They were clear but they were not accepted. They sent me scans and they were accepted. To be clear, I gave them scans of both my blue book and the one with my daughter's name. 5) 1900 baht fee. Also, they used a checklist for documents that I had not seen online. I uploaded the image below.
August 14, 20169 yr Author Forgot to mention that your bank book update showing your 400k must be updated to the day you turn in your paperwork. As I had to wait a day for the tambien ban scans, I had to updated my bank book regardless that it had just been updated the day prior and they had seen it.
September 13, 20169 yr Dertourist, do you need to have a court document such as Kor Ror 11 (guardianship) for the 1 year extension? A friend would like to extend his stay using a similar scheme. His Thai child lives with him, has a Thai ID and is studying in a Thai school. Thai mom doesn’t live with them and he’s not married to her. No problem obtaining the non -O visa in Vientiane or the 400k requirement in the bank. As of now the mother is willing to cooperate but hesitant with the court process.

I don't know about the Kor Ror 11 as I've always had the cooperation of my daughter's mom, I haven't had to look into it.
