Chiang Mai removals

Has anyone used them to move their stuff around town?  If you could send a PM on what you thought of them, how well they packed up stuff, did you have to pre pack anything, size of house moved, costs, etc.  Any and all useful comments without trolling are appreciated.

No need to pay more , I used Intermover Thailand to move some stuff from Pattaya to CM and saved 40% to 60% compared to most others. I paid 8500. Other companies wanted 15000-20000 .

DELETED - PM FOR DETAILS quoted me 9000 to remove stuff from Hua Hin to Chiang Mai, I sent them pictures of items and confirmed the price multiple times.  Without apology and very abruptly they told me the price was now 14,000.  I reminded them that they had quoted 9000 and I had already made arrangement for moving, and they just told me if i did not like it, cancel, and use another company.  Guess what I did......after telling them to shove their service where the sun does not shine.......

You need to be precise when you get a quote , you probably did not give them enough information the first time.  I have used Intermover several times (BKK to Pattaya and Pattaya to CM ) without any problems  .

Have just registered to make my 1st post here after living for 1 year in Chiang Mai and reading rhis forum from time to time.

John is a Real Professional. You would not find anything close to his professional conduct anywhere else in this part of the world. The only surprises which may await you are: politeness, the speed (it is really The Speed), precision (yes, it happens here very rarely), care of your belongings by EVERY team member, and... NO surprises!!! I have never seen anything close to that, not even in Munich, Bavaria, nor in Hong Kong nor Kuala Lumpur. I travel a lot and need removals and storage everywhere I go. I just wish that John could clone himself and made copies of his services in the mentioned cities. But it seems more realistic for me to stay in TH CM for a while.

It is very difficult to compare his service because it is incomparable. You would really enjoy seeing his team in action. A precise, fast, well tuned mechanism.

Thank you very much, John.

With best regards,

Alx in TH.

So you had to register just to make one post of how professional "John" is ?

I think Intermover is professional too , and a lot cheaper than "John".

My experience was they seemed highly professional.. But highly expensive..

I needed to move some heavy large items (think box van / lorry not pickup) and had already moved much of a house move and boxed and packed everything.. Basically use of a lorry and a couple of lifters for a couple of hours and 20 or so kms. Price offered was IIRC 18k and no movement even explaining its simplicity. A couple of phone calls on the bamboo telegraph and someone did it for 6k.

I also needed some secure storage, and was told to come along and discuss a shipping container he had spare. Again the price for a container I could rent a small Thai house for each month. (storage seems a very under served and lucrative business opportunity in Thailand generally and CNX especially).

While I dont doubt he is professional, and or that packing and boxes etc would be done to a very high western standard. If your not after a full service operation its charged that way. If I was moving inter province, he would be the first place I called, moving locally it simply didnt stack up for me.

I am moving from Mae Rim to a location 21kms away.  A few large items, but not really that much.

Email quotes:

Chiang Mai Movers  = 16,000 baht.

Inter = 9,000 baht.

Nim Express (Nim See Seng) = 5,000 baht.

Nim did not respond to two emails. Normally I would have quit at that, however a friend recently used them and was satisfied.  I went to their office and discussed it with them and showed them photos of my furniture.  They discussed it with each other and that is the quote they gave for a six wheel truck and staff.  As I am packing and moving all of my smaller and delicate items, I figure moving some furniture isn''t rocket science.  5k  vs  16k.  Not much to think about.

True , the problem with some Thai owned companies is communication , I learned a long time ago that you need to be patient and call them several times. The best thing is to visit the location and get a quote that way .

I will consider to use Nim Express instead of Intermover next time.

Some value their time more than money,
some do value their money more than their time,
others value their peace of mind more than both.

It is impossible to please each and every of these
groups for any company/individual, and that is great.

In case if someone wants to compare a service of one
company with a service of another company, I would
consider comparing oranges to oranges, apples to apples.

To do so, I prefer the same way of comparison as
of your choice. Experience based.

There was a time when I had a difficult situation:
I was given a 2 hour notice to leave my rented
apartment by a relative of a Thai owner, who has
considered himself more valuable than the agreements
we had prior to that; this person also seemed to find
this task impossible based on their experience, as he
knew exactly what I had in my apartment by then. Most
likely, all of this was due to his tight military ties
and he was/is very important, but this was/is irrelevant.

I have called a company Y and without any unnecessary
questions, within less than 2 minutes I was given an
exact offer. A cargo fleet arrived in less than 1 hour.
Everything in my apartment was carefully packed, moved
to the 1st floor with no lift and placed within the cars.

The items worth mentioning included a two level
refrigerator, electronic equipment, foods, standing table,
iron, iron board and other personal belongings,
occupying the whole 30m2 apartment.

The time in which everything was _carefully_ packed and
moved also does worth mentioning: less than 1/4 of an hour.

A part of the offer was that all the items would be stored
in the storage until I find a new place to live.

All I had to do was wait for a local taxi, which arrived
40+ minutes late the agreed upon time.

Sitting in the A/C'ed taxi, I have realized that
this was the best victory over the Thai culture/mindset/attitude
I ever had in 1 year of taking the risks to live here.

Back then, I did not know anything about the company Y other
than their website and someone named John who picked up the
phone.

Now I know that this company is capable of sending my packed
belongings anywhere in the world from their storage facility
without the need of my personal presence and control, and
be arranged over email or a phone call.

I was also given an all-round consultation of which items I can
send, which would be more difficult and why, as well as which
countries are better to deal with than the others.

And yes, I have registered on this forum and used a bit of this
bright cloudy day to share this story. Did I "had to" do so?

No, it was my free choice of my personal preference.

Why? Simple. Professionals are hard to find. There are very few.
And there are even less of those who would stand up and
support/advocate them (thankfully, many of these professionals
do not need any kind of 3d party advocacy, as a direct result
of their professionalism).

Are the services of Mr.John's company priced more than the
majority than other options? Yes, indeed.

Are the services of Mr.John stand out from the majority of
other options? Yes, indeed.

Are these prices of Mr.John reasonable? Yes, to every cent and penny.

Would I consider any other company rather than Mr.John's for
transfer/storage services? I could have considered DHL Express,
but: (1) their fees are way too higher, (2) they do not accept the
majority of the items I have/want to move/transfer (3) there is a
lot of paperwork overhead (4) no storage (5) their orange/red
transports attract too much attention (6) no personalized approach.

Would I use Mr.John's services in the future?

Without a blink of an eye.

Thank you for paying attention.
