Security personnel comprising soldiers and police today began extensive manhunt for bombers and arsonists responsible for spate of bomb attacks and fires in seven southern provinces that left four dead and over 30 injured between August 8-12.

Several suspects were arrested and detained for questioning under the special power given by Section 44 of the interim constitution.

The arrest of suspects came after security authorities said they had gained some evidence that indicated they might be implicated.

The search and arrest of these suspects were made at several locations in Ang Thong, Trang, Nakhon So Thammarat provinces.

In Ang Thong, heavily armed security raided the house of a local redshirt leader identified as Vichai Padungsaksri, 60,  and escorted him to unknown military barrack for questioning.

His mobile phones and those belonged to other members of the family and occupants were seized for examination.

No details were given by the security personnel in fatiques while they raided his home at the Kasetsuwaphand  market this morning, causing panic among morning shoppers and vendors.

The security personnel just said they came from the central command to search four targets in Ang Thong town and prohibited journalists to follow them in the search.

In Nakhon So Thammarat, the home base of the Fourth Army Region, security personnel “invited” 6-7 persons escorted from Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang and Phatthalung for interrogation.

Heading the interrogation team was Pol Lt Gen Thesa Sirivato, commissioner of the Zone 8 Provincial Police Command.

Entry to the army barrack by journalists was prohibited.

Meanwhile security personnel on Saturday arrested an arson suspect they said was  responsible the fire at Tesco Lotus store in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The arson suspect is a 32-year-old native of San Kamphaeng district of Chiang Mai but works on an offshore oil platform off Nakhon Si Thammarat.

He was identified as Sakarin Karuehas.

He was taken to the 41st Army Circle inside the Fourth Army Region headquarter in Muang district for interrogation.

Security authorities said they had sufficient evidence to charge him but he denied all allegations.

In Trang province, a political activist Prapas Rojanapitak, 67,  was arrested in Trang for questioning on Saturday for alleged involvement in several arson attacks and attempts in the southern provinces.

He is a UDD member.

All suspects will be flown in to Bangkok for more interrogation.

I wonder if Vichai Padungsaksri has links with ISIS or Russian Intelligence!!

Seriously though a blind man can see with the timing and location of these incidents it would lead back to the minority terrorists. Lets hope all culprits are rounded up and persecuted to the full extent of the law.

This will speed things up....

Witch hunt ...

Appease international communities with scape goats.

While really picking a major fight ...

Thailand is about to become a whole lot more dangerous ....

More bombs are almost assured .....now

Tourists won't come with all this discord going on .

Few tolerate a lying Military .....

But this is increasingly the beginning of Thailand civil unrest

A very revealing Freudian slip there, "persecuted".

Djjamie is at least entertaining ......Maybe even a very clever man posing as a Molly Meldrum of Thai politics with a blind love of Junta

( He certainly harms them with outlandish comments so obvious , that he does good for the dialogue )  of any debate ......it's always Thaksin and Reds and boot licking .

How revealing - you said " persecuted" not "prosecuted", and you are such a devotee of " the rule of law, checks and balances, principles etc..."

This incident has given the government an excellent excuse to purge the country of all people associated with the red shirt brigade to make sure that their political power is completely destroyed forever. New laws will be coming out soon to curtail all anti government voices on the internet and that will include a new media clampdown and trouble for all anti government foreigners, suddenly dozens of foreign criminals will be discovered and blacklisted..

This site as well as facebook and a few others have been under close scrutiny for quite some time now.

All this will be done in the name of national security.
