I need to do a visa run for change or employment and would prefer to make the run to Singapore.

Any news from there lately as to difficulties?

Thank you for any help.

No problems for a 90 day visa for business. As long as your paperwork is in order. Company invite letter, company registration, company affidavit( tells who the authorized directors are) company objectives, shareholder list and Vat Phor Phor 20. All must be signed by an authorized director and have the company seal.

This Non-Imm-B is to get a work permit with an employer on Phuket - still no problem?

My employer is suggesting that Penang or KL might be better and that Singapore is problematic - but I think they have limited experience with it.

Singapore is no problem for 90 days and is much better than Penang. This is different than advice given several months ago. Like the tide of the ocean, embassies interpretation of the rules change.

Employer is now saying KL - and I need to go next week.

SO . . . I am guessing KL is okay? Sorry to be such a problem - just want to do it right and don't want to have to make multiple trips!

Thank you for patience and assistance.

I had no problem with KL about 6 months ago for a 90 day, single entry B, but that was 6 months ago, heh. The only thing I recall about KL is you need to be in before a certain time (10am or 11am, IIRC, I had been told a later time and missed it). The hotel across the street has a travel office in the hall that does photo copies and such if you need them.

I got back from Singapore this morning and have to say I think the Singaporean mindset of efficiency is rubbing off on the embassy staff there.

IF you have all the necessary documentation and S$85 it is an easy and painless operation. I arrived at 8:45am and the line had already formed outside the gates. At exactly 9:15 it opened and we walked in in an orderly line to stand in front of the counter. Take a number and take a form. Fill in the form and wait for the number to be called. In what has to be remarkable speed I made it to the counter, handed over the paperwork and money, got my receipt and was told to come back the next afternoon at 2:00pm. Did that and was handed my Business visa in the same way.

Note at the beginning of my post I wrote IF and that is important. Like the efficiency of the Singaporeans the Embassy staff have adopted the attitude of being sticklers to detail. So do yourself a favour.

1) Write NEATLY and in capitals. If it says use a black pen then don't think a blue or green one wil be ok because it won't

2) They have the change but appreciate if you give them the exact amount of money needed for the visa

3) check what documents are needed and sign the copies. In fact sign everything just in case

4) recheck what documents are needed and make sure you take them with you. Take any supporting information you can think of because it really is a case of more is more and less is not enough

5) When they line you up - stay in your place, a couple of guys moved out of the line in front of me to have a chat with some friends and were pushed to the end of the line

6) Smile and be polite, don't go wearing a pair of shorts and t-shirt because they really hate that

7) Do NOT lose or forget the receipt from when you handed in your passport, they will not give you the passport back without it. One woman had to go back to her hotel and get it because she forgot and didn't think it mattered.

Hope this helps

Just got my Non-imm B from Kl last Nov 20. No problem there. Just get all the papers needed. (I suppose you already know what those are). Once they accepted your application that means you can get it the next morning(its APPROVED!). If your papers are not ok, they'll tell you first hand before they accept any payments. It was quite easy there. They didn't ask me any questions, they just get it and voila! it's approved the next morning. Be there between 10am till 11 30 am. To claim it the next day, be there between 11 30am - 12 30pm Royal Thai Embassy Jelan Ampang KL. I recommend it than Penang. Good luck!
