KUNMING, 17 August 2016 (NNT) – The Public Relations Department (PRD) has joined a conference with Yunnan Media Group (YMG) of China to expand cooperation in mass communications, advancing the relations between both governments' communications agencies.

PRD Deputy Director-General Charoon Chaisorn has led a team of officials from Thailand to attend the 1st YMG-PRD Joint Technical Committee Meeting with Yunnan Media Group (YMG) at the headquarters of Yunnan Television in Kunming, China.

The conference was co-chaired by YMG President Lin Siying, and attended by the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee’s Deputy Minister of Yunnan Publicity Department Li Qian.

The meeting was intended to boost cooperation between the PRD and YMG as communication tools can play an integral part in connecting the cultural and economic aspects of both countries together, and further promote the relations between the general public of both nations.

The PRD and YMG had established a strong bilateral relation for 10 years. This meeting in Kunming is considered the first technical meeting that will revise both agencies’ operations during the past 10 years, and determine the guideline towards a continued development under a cooperation scheme that will incorporate the exchange on news, radio and television content, as well as encourage on-location visits from both agencies' production teams.

And so it continues, the Chinese will no doubt be giving advice on other areas, including social networks and the digital media. They have a lot to offer, given their experience with access gateways, including the "Great Wall" project.

Along with the ammendments to the Computer Crime Act and associated legislation due to come into force before year end, an end to free access to impartial news and information will soon be the new norm in the Kingdom.
