Report by Pattaya One News Team

PATTAYA: -- At 8pm, on the evening of August 16, an alert member of the public informed Pattaya police of two suspicious packages placed on Pattaya North.

One of the packages was outside Pattaya City Hall and the other at Tesco Lotus. At the scene security guards were keeping passers-by away.

After investigating the police arrested fifty-eight-year-old South African, Mr Beukes Johannes Matthys, who has been taken into custody but, as yet, has not said anything.

An alert security guard, Mr Damrong, said he noticed a suspicious looking man carrying two bags.

Luckily for all (especially TAT), Damrong was damn wrong about the two suspicious packages.

But, in this time of heightened tension in the community (and, especially among police officers and soldiers with loaded weapons), Matthys is lucky he wasn't shot for his antics!

If (as reported) he was trying to create attention, he could have chosen a less extreme way to do it - like lying in the middle of a road somewhere (http://news.thaivisa.com/thailand/crazed-nigerian-on-the-loose-bangkok-police-make-arrest/151255/)!
