Using Google voice frequently

Featured Replies

I'm very pleased with Google Voice for dictation or short emails love letters. It is said that the voice search provides results for calculations too. I did not find instructions how to properly formulate calculations questions. Nothing complicated search. Comparing conversion rates and percentage differences. Who can provide guidance?

Google Voice is an integrated VoIP Telephony platform.

I think you are referring to one, or both, of the following:

1.) Speech to text input which complements a keyboard input. Settings, Language & input, Google voice typing, with the ever annoying text to speech output. (or your phone may have a similar proprietary feature).

2.) "OK Google" ("Make me a sandwich." "Poof, you're a sandwich.") OK Google, what is 35 degrees Celsius in Fahrenheit. OK Google requires the Google Launcher (I think).

Both of these need some training, and build up dictionaries and functionality over time. A quieter environment helps.

tKS mtls, google really needs to be trained for calculations if it is more than + &  --

Got no patience for that, I will go with the app Speaking Calculator.

OK Google works fine for me, it's actually quite amazing.  Any result is both displayed and "read" back via a female voice using text to speech.

Can you give an example, or three, of a calculation which you've found to be challenging with OK Google?

First of all I always make sure that the voice command under Google search voice is set to English. I'm just trying to simple things such as percentage calculations. And because the problem maybe wrong syntax and have  been searching the web for instructions to no avail. I use these calculations mainly to compare stock market prices between various stock exchanges and currencies. If you could help with some simple instructions it would be wonderful

Just give me one example. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Then I can come up with simple instructions. Obviously it is challenging to come up with instructions when one does not know the scenario.

What make/model phone do you have? What android version are you running? Have you enabled OK Google?

Mtls, sorry I was away. In the meantime I checked and reset my settings. Simple calculations work fine.

But for question ::::::what is Percentage increase from X to Y?  Google return rules and apps to perform such calculation but no result.

My up-to-date HTC One, Android 5.02, HTC Sense 6.0

And you've enabled OK Google?

OK Google, what is Y minus X divided by X, result is Y-1.

No place for the parentheses. ;)

There may be some syntax which would work?
