Zika virus spreads to Miami Beach

MIAMI: -- US health officials in Florida now say that mosquitos bearing the deadly Zika virus have spread to Miami Beach beyond their initial identified “transmission area” of Wynwood.

Teams of health inspectors are fanning out across the state to raise awareness of the risks and preventive measures.

Despite the Zika risk now hitting one of Florida’s hottest tourist hotspots, few holidaymakers appear to be concerned.

What bothers me about this is the US is so quick to toss around billions for any new disease. It's waste. Just like all that waste in Iraq that did nothing for a better America or world. American-style corruption.

The National Institute of Health, in the US, is working on a vaccine.

This is one terrifying virus for sure, and I can,t see why anyone should be bothered by large amounts of money being spent to control it !

I don't know if I would call it terrifying, but it is scary in what it can do to an unborn child.

Most people contracting the Zika virus may only be mildly ill or have no symptoms.   The biggest risk seems to be to a fetus.

Spending money on disease prevention and control is a waste? Have you considered how much more will need to be spent on long term treatment of those infected and of microcephalytic babies?

Do you have a warm spot for Ebola?
