Chinese Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone.

I am Canadian living in Bangkok and I need to get a Chinese (tourist) visa, but I don't know where to go or how to proceed as I have been told  that the old Chinese foreign visa section next to the embassy has been moved and outsourced to another company, is this true?. Does anyone know how to apply for the new visa and all the information I will need?...I was also told by my neighbour that I have to make an appointment first before applying for the visa.

Thanks for any information you can give or offer.

Start by getting the application from the Chinese embassy. There's a bit of paperwork you'll need.; copy of your Thai visa, plane tickets, itenerary etc. You have to go in the morning, afternoon are for picking up passports only. It's pretty straight forward process.

We went last year, there was no appointment necessary then, could have changed since  though

Does this apply to foriegners who want to visit Hong Kong also?

I am supposing it does.

Thanks Rob 13. I will go to the old building next to the Chinese Embassy early tomorrow morning and see if I can pick up the application forms for the Chinese visa. It seems that my neighbour has given me wrong information or most likely I misunderstood what he was saying in Thai and as usual I got it wrong...LOL.

Again thanks for your prompt reply and application papers as I am in a hurry to attend a friend's wedding that was scheduled at the last minute. Now it seems that I will be able to attend.

Cheers
