Dear TVF members, now that I have retired in Thailand, (I have lived here periodically for 20 years) I will soon be applying for an extension of stay based upon my marriage of 20 years to a Thai national. I have prepared all the required documentation, however, I must now have my 20 year old UK marriage certificate "legalized" by the appropriate authority in the UK in order to prove that we are still married. The validated document is then to be sent to the Royal Thai Embassy in London for additional processing before being returned back to me.  I am all clear on the UK validation process in terms of address and payment, but I am in the dark about the London Thai embassy fee for processing, and the procedure for returning the validated certificate back to me. I have sent several emails to them but no answers as yet. So I am wondering if any TVF members have gone through the same process, and if so, can you let me know how long it took, start to finish, and the payment/mailing process for the Thai embassy transaction. Thanks to any respondent for your kind assistance.

I've just done this, but while I was in the UK.  You register on the gov.uk. legalisation website and pay.  Then print off and complete the application form, quoting your reference from the payment process, and send it, with the document you want legalised, to Milton Keynes, together with a post-paid envelope for the Thai Embassy in London.  The Thai Embassy form is on the London Embassy website (Legalisation).  Complete this by hand and enclose a postal order or cash for 10 GBP, plus a self-addressed post-paid envelope.

Doing this while in the UK is relatively straightforward.  Doing it from Thailand would seem to be far more complicated.
