Super Foods

Featured Replies

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, where can I find super foods like hemp seeds, chia seed, raw almond etc? There are some websites selling them but at very high prices. Is there any herb shops where I can find these at reasonable prices. Thanks.

Super foods is a marketing creation designed to extort a premium….normal foods have the same, sometimes even higher % of nutrients. But…Ive seen some of these foods in the Royal Project shops.

Makro has raw almonds. They also have a decent plain yogurt.  Kimchi is a purported super food. That's easy to make with Google. You can also find matcha here. Non alchalized chocolate is hard to find. Yeah....the term super food is kinda dumb. But it is possible to eat healthy here. Just costs a bit more if you want to follow the fads. Turmeric is cheap.

The Mall here in Korat has chia seeds, most likely BKK too!

Chia seed is also being grown in LOS, saw an article in a Thai

Ag magazine.

Chia seeds are ubiquitous as Thais are herd animals and will jump on any passing bandwagon. Chia = the latest miracle weight loss food.

But hemp seeds are harder to get hold of. Try the Gourmet Market downstairs at Paragon, where there's a booth selling flax, cacao powder, wheatgrass, spirulina, etc. Sometimes they'll have hemp too.
