September 7, 20169 yr Hi there. Does anyone have any tips for opening an off shore bank account? This is something i loked at doing a little while back but did not move forward with it, but now i am ready to open an account if possible. I have been looking at Singapore, but the Citibank require 200,000 USD minimum and other banks seem to be quite tough in terms of application requirments. I was hoping to find a bank that simply ask for proof of address and other basic forms of I.D without making you jump through hoops. I had an email back from Citibank asking me questions that almost made me feel like some form of criminal.... I have earnt my money in an unconventional way but it is quite legal. Any tips would be appreciated!
September 8, 20169 yr Have just opened SGD & USD non-resident accounts (SG$500 and US $1,000 minimums) with UOB in Singapore. Firstly confirmed requirements by email with their Customer Service mob, and then visited one of their Branches to complete the applications. Acceptance or otherwise is a matter for the individual branch to decide. Was firstly told they would not approve, but I was pretty insistent and asked for review. This took a bit over a week to get approval, and required another trip to Spore to finalize. Suggest you try the same approach
