Filipino theft gang busted at Don Mueang airport trying to flee with stolen diamond necklace

BANGKOK: -- A Filipino theft gang was busted by tourist police after it stole a diamond necklace from a jewelry and gems exhibition in Mueang Thong Thani and tried to flee to Phuket from Don Mueang airport last night.

The arrest of the Filipino gang, comprising three men and two women, came after the owner of a booth at the 58th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair alerted tourist police at 6.00 pm yesterday that his 300,000 baht diamond necklace had been stolen.

According to Paramin Taharian, the booth owner, he suspected two foreign tourists, a woman and a man, visiting his booth at 2.00 pm took the necklace as a CCTV camera could capture the man quickly snatched the necklace from the showcase while he was busily attending to the woman who at that moment was speaking to someone on the mobile phone.

The two later left in a hurry.

He was not aware of the missing diamond necklace until he later checked in the file photography of all jewelry items on displayed in the showcase at 6.00 pm and found the necklace went missing.

He looked through the video footage and found the man who came with the woman took away the necklace.

We don't have to, Duterte the punisher is already doing a good job of it.....

Why are their heads down? I guess they're signing a form giving consent to the police to be presented to the media.

So the booth owner suspected two foreign tourists took the necklace after footage from a CCTV camera showed the man quickly snatch the necklace?

Should put this guy on the ghost in the garage case!

Business must be ok when you don't notice your $10000 item is missing for four hours.

should have taken a route over the Mekong, or over the hills into Mayamar

I thought all these media displays and finger pointing were to be stopped due to privacy concerns for the victims??

They will get a nice sentence , as they should cant stand thieves.

I heard that in the the Philippines, most crimes are committed by Filipinos. Believe it or not.

Trump will send back over 100,000 illegals back to Philippines in a few months.

It's all relative. In the world of gems and jewelry, ten-grand isn't that much. Yeah, it's enough to call the police, but in a well-stocked gem/jewelry booth at a busy show, it's not hard to imagine the loss didn't become obvious until later.

exhibitions are very busy environments and it is not possible to monitor all the items all the time. but expensive items  should be kept under lock and key.

Confession time!

You can't call that bashing, when so many people hop on the train of criminal activities.

That doesn't mean that all Filipinos are criminals/ Peace, dude.

P.S. How many "theft gangs" and "story tellers" are in LOS? I don't wanna know.

Anywhere in the world there are thieves...you are even a THEIF in your own selves. If you bash others equates to bashing yourself.

Please don't paint with the same brush all Filipinos. No Filipino bashing plz.

So if you say anything nasty about this diamond jewelery criminal gang then your a racist. Great opening post. Shame about the U.K and Aussie boys locked away for eternity but plz roast their nuts on the fire.

To be honest with everyone I wish that the gang had got away with it. This jeweler could afford a loss. Now 5 lives will be forever scared by their time behind bars. All for what? Money.

I read somewhere the other day that 65 of the richest people on the planet wealth if combined would be the same as the combined wealth of half the population of the earth.

65 people's money = 3 billion people's money.

The world is cruel, the poor get poorer, its survival of the fitest. Good luck.

This is the kind of low Life's Duterte wants to get rid of in Philippines. Its fear...All criminals from Philippines are running away and going to law less lands in Asia and Europe, where criminals get few weeks in prison and then they are back to business, while in Philippines if these guys got caught, he would be gone for ever behind bars.

Duterte should be the world leader so that, all these scums could be put behind bars.

Philippines has become amazing, if you do not read lame stream corporate media propaganda of the west. Its easier to get passport, driving licence and yeah no heart wrenching socialist taxes anymore like in Europe..where you pay half of your hard earned money to government so that they could bring in more rapefugees.

In Philippines, Taxes are being reduced....hurrey...life's feel so good.

Fear Porn created by corporate media in the west. People in Philippines are super happy because exactly these kinds of low life's are kicked out.
