Nang Fa Karaoke in Pattaya - much more to the story than meets the eye!

PATTAYA: -- It has emerged that there is much more to the story of the Nang Fa karaoke lounge in Pattaya than came to light two months ago.

Claims and counterclaims abound between the owner and a former cashier and her family with each side accusing the other of selling a 13 year old girl into the sex trade, reported Thairath.

Both sides deny wrong doing in the matter that looks set to rival the "Lady Kai" case for the public's salacious interest.

Back in July it appeared that the case was more cut and dried, if rather comical in nature. News broke that a bunch of police led by the now infamous Sergeant Kato or Narawut Karamhito had raided the Nang Fa in Central Pattaya Soi 9 on charges of human trafficking.

It appeared to be just an extortion racket and when the owner Paranisa Sainaphanitkul - known as Jae Sa - called their bluff and threatened to phone some top cops they refused to believe it. Jae Sa then called the commissioner of police Chakrathip Chaijinda on the phone.

Still the alleged racketeering cops refused to believe that it was the head of police on the phone. Only when another top cop, the head of the Chonburi force, called back did they flee the scene.

But this is only the tip of a murky iceberg that appears to center around the trafficking of a 13 year old girl, named only as "Pin", a relative of a family who has worked at the lounge who say she was indeed sold into the sex trade.

Yesterday a woman called Namfon Jongthanakamol turned up at the Pattaya police station with a justice ministry appointed lawyer to answer claims in a warrant that she was involved in human trafficking.

The warrant was issued in August against Namfon who is a former cashier of the Nang Fa.

Namfon told police that she worked at the Nang Fa for only one month around the turn of the year. She told investigating officers that on January 8th there was a human trafficking raid on the establishment in which her mother Sommai, a cook who was looking after the lounge for the owner Jae Sa, took the rap and was jailed.

Allegedly Jae Sa promised to help get her mother freed but never did anything to secure her release.

Then later in January, according to Namfon, a family member called Pennapha Prasongsuk who was a DJ at the lounge was accused by Jae Sae of stealing and was jailed for 5 months.

This led to much argument and recriminations between the owner and the family in which it is alleged that Jae Sa said that she knew top cops and threatened the life of Namfon's family if they revealed the true goings on at the Nang Fa.

Then comes the affair of the 13 year old girl called "Pin" who was working at the Nang Fa encouraging men to buy drinks. Namfon claims that she wanted to take her relative home to her hometown but that the owner stood in her way.

Apparently in March Jae Sa took Pin to the police to claim that Namfon was selling her into the sex trade. Namfon denied this but kept her counterclaims to herself worrying about the previous threats to her family.

However, this is when she thought it was time to go to the justice ministry and request a lawyer. And now, when she heard that she was facing a warrant for human trafficking she had turned up to fight the case alleging:

"Nang Fa karaoke and it's owner were definitely involved in human trafficking".

Namfon was detained by police yesterday.

Jae Sa is free and turned up at the station yesterday evening to say that her former employer is spouting nothing but lies. With her was the thirteen year old Pin who the owner has been looking after.

Pin told police that Namfon had lied to her about taking her home and instead had taken her to a rented room and forced her to have sex with men. This she said she did twice before fleeing back to Jae Sa.

She said that Jae Sa had never hurt her or forced her to do anything against her will.

Expect this story to run and run.

I am confused already !! Claims and counter claims.

They are probably all involved, but as usual will say anything to shift blame onto someone else.

The outcome of this case will be very interesting.

There won't be an outcome. That would mean someone loosing face! A few Baht will be handed over and everything will be forgotten.

the owner is ultimately responsible for what goes on in her licenced establishment, some others may also be implicated but the responsibility is down to the owner to ensure the place is operating within the law

absolutely. he should have been dealt with more thoroughly from the start.

A 13 year old girl has been sold into the sex trade and prostituted on at least two occasions.

Two women claim the other was responsible. The young girl blames her relative rather than the boss of the "karaoke" who she apparently stays with.

A complication is some dodgy cops raided the place looking to extort, but their bluff was called by the boss who it seems does know some senior and influential police.

They're you go Colin, my banal precis.

And who will it be to sort all this out - yep, the good old BiB from the same division as the cops who carried out the raid. Priceless.

PATTAYA: -- Following her statement to the police on Friday Ms Namfon, formerly a waitress at the Nangfah Karaoke Bar, appears to have been detained.

Because she has been to court and Mr. Pairoj Tinchatar-rak, from the Department of Justice in Chonburi, along with her lawyer, have appeared on her behalf and ‘bailed her out.’

On her release Ms Namfon thanked the Department of Justice for helping her and her family. She said she would do whatever it takes to win ‘fair treatment.’

Mr Pairoj has said that after reviewing all the evidence he considers Ms Namfon to have no involvement with any illegal activity at Nangfahs.

He has approved a bail payment of 400,000 baht from the Justice Fund (2558)

The investigation into the Karaoke Bar is ongoing and, as Ms Namfon is in fear of her safety, the Justice Department may approve a witness protection programme for her and her family.
