How much money take through Oman

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am flying to London via Muscat (7 hours in muscat) and planned on taking about £30,000 cash with me. I understand that in Oman one must declare anything over equivalent of about £11,000. Does anyone know if declaring is a complex procedure (I have bank books and receipts from exchanging the baht, is that enough?)? or indeed if it is relevant if just transiting?

Help much appreciated

I don't believe you would have to declare that as you are in transit and do not actually enter the country. But calling the Omani embassy in BKK would certainly be a smart move

I'm assuming you're fully aware that this sum of cash will need to be declared to HMRC/Border Force officials when you enter the UK and to Thai Customs when you leave Thailand?

Don't you have internet banking??

£30k is going to attract a lot of attention both ends I'm afraid.

This is an interesting topic for me as well since I plan to take roughly 30k the other way from Europe to LoS before the end of the year. If I show account statements from my UK bank that I took the money out of one of the accounts with them, will this satisfy both UK and TH customs? Will I have ANY issues taking this amount of cash out of the UK and into TH?

If you're incoming to the UK dont even chance walking through immigration with £30,000 without declaring it because at that level its confiscated pending further enquiry nailed on if you get random tugged or money dog tugged

I'd said Oman is no problem you're only in transit.

Bottom line is you need to prove where its come from. If you can satisfy the airport authorities it is legit then no problem to take it on the plane.

I personally think its mad to travel with that kind of cash but up to you.
