Thai bank account - Taxes

Featured Replies

Hi guys, i'm working on the internet, and i recieve money from plateform like UpWork, freelancer.com etc....

So i'd like to connect it to my thai bank account but, is it legal ? Do i have to declare it  or/and pay taxes on it ? It's about 1000$ / month.

Thank you really much

Of course you would have to declare and pay tax on income - you would also require a work permit to legally do this work[ which would be a complex process involving working for a Thai company.  You may not want to open that can of worms.

unless its changed your personel allowance is 150,000bht.a yr.

if you go to WWW.RD.GO.THY you can view the tax payable table.

I get taxed on interest withBangkok Bank but you can claim it back

I agree with what you said 100%, but with SIPA and the BOI it is now possible for a software company to have 50+ Farang with work permits and minimal Thai staff.

Example http://www.jetradar.com/ in Phuket.

The OP should seek employment with such BOI and SIPA projects as what they do is essentially the same as upwork but with added benefits such as guaranteed housing and the talent is pooled and divided on a per project basis.

Why of course? The money is being earned outside Thailand.

If remitted into Thailand in the year earned tax is also due here unless excepted by treaty.  Worldwide income is subject to tax here and his asking on a Thai forum makes it appear he is actually working while in Thailand.
