I arrived in Bangkok on 26/08 with a single tourist visa and the latest departure date indicated in my passport is 24/09

I would like to change my ticked of departure to 25/09, that is one day after the latest date of departure

What should I do ? shall I ask for an extension of visa ? and where ?

I read somewhere that you can extend your stay up to 90 days without asking an extension of visa, and you will just have to pay 500 baths at the airport on the day of departure... can anybody confirms that ?

Thanks for replies and advices

For one day overstay you will not be charged 500 Baht at the airport.

If you want to, you can apply for a 30 days extension at any Immigration Office. 1,900 Baht.

A tourist visa for those from most countries allows a 60 day entry. It seems you may of actually got a 30 day visa exempt entry.

You could possibley apply for a 30 day extension at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

There is no 90 day extension for 500 baht. I think you mean the overstay fine of 500 baht a day and not being banned if you overstay less than 90 days.

But shall I do anything apart for the 1 day extension ? It won't be a problem on the day of departure ? and it won't be a problem when I come back to Thailand next time ?

Yes probably a fine of 500 baths per day... If I do so, won't it be a problem for future stays in Thailand ?

You would be overstaying by one day. It is not an extension.

You will get an overstay stamp in your passport but it wont give you any problems.

I have now verified the website of the Thai embassy in France because I have a French Passport and it's well indicated that tourist entry to Thailand for French nationals is 60 days.... and on my passport, immigration just gave me 30 days... I don't understand

OK I understood now...

If one stay less than 30 days, no visa required (which was my case initially) and I just arrived at BKK airport with a immigration stamp for 30 days, and above 30 days, visa is needed

But now I am overstaying one day, shall I just overstay one day and pay the fine of 500 baths or should I apply for an extension of 30 days  to avoid any problem ?

You will not be fined anything.

Up to you if you want to apply for a 30 day extension.

Personally I would just go for the one day overstay.

Ok thank you for your replies

You shouldn't get overstay stamp if going out from airport, I have done it several times including end of last month. if go through immigration within 24hrs of the following day they do nothing besides possibly scribble small note to show they noted visa date but it permitted without fine or overstay stamp .

Land borders different scenario ...

For one day via airport I wouldn't waste a day & 1,900Bt for an extension .
