New Phuket Governor to arrive from Maha Sarakham

Chokchai Detamornthan, the current Governor of Maha Sarakham Province in Northeast Thailand (Isan), will to take up the post of Governor of Phuket on October 1.

 

PHUKET: -- Chokchai Detamornthan, the current Governor of Maha Sarakham Province in Northeast Thailand (Isan), will arrive in Phuket to take up the post of Governor of Phuket on October 1.

 

The Interior Ministry announced Governor Chokchai’s posting to Phuket today (Sept 13).

 

The announcement comes after a Cabinet meeting on held to announce the annual reshuffle of high-ranking government officials throughout the country.

Actually looks like he takes corruption seriously.

 

It is reported he fired  32 Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) presidents whom he accused of corruption earlier this month.

Yeah, I wonder how the rice farmers mafia compares to the transport mafia in terms of payouts and toughness.  No local official here will go down without swinging, it's too lucrative.  Good on the guv though for doing his job up North.
