BANGKOK, 17 September 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said that over 28,000 rai of land under care of the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO) was reclaimed without objection in the past two months.

In his weekly televised address, the premier said that 28 encroached plots of ALRO land in six provinces covering over 28,000 rai of land were reclaimed in the past two months without objection and yet to be allocated to farmers.

The Land Development Department will improve soil to make it suitable for farming while the Irrigation Department will improve water resources, dams and water distribution systems and the Department of Livestock will promote goat raising, he said.

The Department of Agricultural Extension will promote integrated farming while the Cooperatives Promotion Department will establish cooperatives and the Board of Land Policy will oversee operations as a whole. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will promote knowledge and management in running mega farms, he said.

He added that two more plots covering 2,188 rai of land in Surat Thani and Nakorn Ratchasima provinces will be reclaimed within this year.

So lets just recap who is involve in this.

Agricultural Land Reform Office, reclaim the land.

Land Development Department, will improve the soil.

Irrigation Department, will, well, irrigate it.

Department of Livestock, will give advice on goats.

Department of Agricultural Extension, will promote integration.

Cooperatives Promotion Department, will establish co-ops.

Board of Land Policy, will oversee operations.

Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, will promote knowledge.

Nice to see a slimlined management system being applied, well it would be nice to see.......We could end up with one civil servant per Rai.

Clearly all these departments will ensure a transparent graft free environment for development, with every single satang being spent ( on whatever they choose).

Reclaiming land without decisively dealing with the rouge and crocked elements

in land department and other deeds issuing agencies will not solve the problem

as fast as they reclaim, that as fast as vast tracks of land is being prudently

given to scammers and powerful figures that are never brought to justice....

Reminds me of the old joke.. How many rednecks does it take to change a flat tire, 1 for each lug nut, (6), 1 for the wrench, (1), 2 for the jack, 1 to hold it in place, (2)and 1 at each end to hol vehicle from rolling off jack (2).

The involvement of the numerous departments should ensure a real circle jerk and no Boss to blame when things go to hell in a handbasket.

Plenty of people to say "It wasn't me." if something goes wrong again in the future.
