What a disgrace for the animals this place is. It seems well attended and foreigners pay a slight entry premium, not expensive, but still a premium

The enclosures are run down, the animals look depressed and some have gone stir crazy. Animals that rely on water in their enclosures for natural frolicking have half filled stagnant mud puddles. Most of the animals are mangy and sick, looking like they have lacked proper food for years

The entire zoo is rundown and it’s difficult to see that monies collected from entry fees and concession stands could be going back to running the place

At least you can buy an ice cream every 20 metres or so…

Strange that you didn't post any photos of the stir crazy, depressed, mangy, sick, undernourished animals in their run down enclosures with only stagnant mud to frolic in.

Andy Hall has just been given a 3 year jail sentence for deformation. Maybe you might be sharing a cell soon.

Was his deformity from birth or self inflicted?

You can ask him when you take a shower.

Well done on constructing a sentence without typos, and defamation isn't an issue on an anonymous internet forum.

+1 to OP Dusit zoo is a travesty.

On the plus side, if you wander in the exit they don't notice and you get in free, plus they have a giraffe that with true Thai brilliance they decided to name "Bin Laden".

It's a good tip...you can loiter around the exit side and then just wander in

Actually defamation is an issue on an anonymous forum which is why we have the "no name-and-shame" rule.

An issue for the forum, not for us :) The poster I quoted was saying OP puts himself at risk of a defamation charge. I'm sure Thai police will be rushing to track down 'JJGreen'.

Until Thaivisa receives a court order to disclose your IP address. Followed by a similar order to your ISP to reveal your identity.

The no name and shame rule is there to protect you as well as Thaivisa.

But let's get back on-topic.

I used to make a habit of visiting the zoo in the country where I was working (in my more mobile globetrotting days). Bangkok Zoo is by no means the worst, in fact it's probably in the upper 50% of the ones I've visited (some of which were in the West), which is a really sad indictment of the human condition :(
