No matter how much I try to get the Thai wife to understand, she is 'hard wired' to believe what other Thais say.  Even when one is later shown to be wrong, she still believes the next one.  Whereas I believe nothing anyone in business says, and only half of what they put in writing.  I have a 'suitable' level of healthy skepticism when dealing with all others  - the Thai wife has nil when dealing with Thais.  She 'conforms' to the Thai mentality and that is the core of the issue in this matter - Thais believe other Thais, and believe to not do so is offensive to them.  

 

Unscrupulous Thais take advantage of them.  Been going on for a long time, and will continue for quite some time yet.

It would appear that nobody was forced to sign contracts for this poorly conceived and implemented venture. Therefore, in the spirit of a free market economy, the legal concept of "caveat emptor" applies here.
