Does it matter if some of these old guys are not from Thailand, as they are all old guys!

How much more egg on their faces do the Thailand authorities need, more I guess by reading

this story.  Very sad ay in LOS, I though this country would start to improve but  I am

mistaken.

Geezer

Like most headlines on TV news, this one is also misleading or just wrong.

It's not the domino game that they were arrested for, it's the gambling. Their age is irrelevant. If a pensioner breaks the law how is it different from a younger person breaking the law??

It is pointless having a law one cannot enforce, they don't enforce the traffic laws that they could which would make a real difference. Thai's will always gamble, take away the cards and dice and they will bet how many blue taxis pass by within 10 minuets or how many flies will settle on the table in 5 minuets or how often the Thai authorities will shoot themselves in the foot within a month.

Actually it is "How can I be stupid today?"  No brain necessary for an answer.

They don't need to think about being stupid. To many its just natural. Same as you put one foot in front of the other to walk.

I'm Asian...Really, farangs hold all the "cards" in Asia as far as tourism goes....

Only problem is Farangs are not united in there "Cause"...They need to create something like

Farang Asian Front For Freedom and Human Rights

YOU NEED ONE VOICE .

If farangs enmass threaten to cancel their retirement visa without giving them rights...THEY WILL LISTEN TO YOU>

Its really everything in UNITY.

Yes,these sorts are a plague on society. However i advise you to be careful when discussing their vile acts on screen. You never know whose reading.Have you never heard of the Ninja domino black op's? They are very powerful here in Thai land.i would hate to hear you have been put in the Domino house or have vanished under mysterious circumstances.

Remember,they know where you live.

Not easy, tho. After the bridge players were arrested, they had to go through the books with a fine tooth comb to find a law passed under Jap colonial admin - no one is allowed to have 4 packs of cards -

You can be assured a set of ledgers was being kept.

Actually in the court, a tally sheet is enough for a conviction and small fine.

Gambling is just slightly more serious than riding a bike without a helmet or going for a soapy massage.

Until a family loses their car and their home and their seed money for next season to pay off the gambling debts. Of the 3 you mentioned, it's the only one recognized as an addiction.  Well, soapies can probably get pretty addictive, too.

I'd like to see Thailand do what they do in Seoul.  Open up a casino and require a foreign passport to get in.  Win-win all around.  Well, for the locals anyway.  Lots of jobs, lots of moneyed tourists, lots of tax money and not much negative impact on local debt levels.

I went to one in Nepal which had the same idea.

you mean that since traffic police don't enforce the traffic laws in each and every violations, all police work of all other police departments should also stop??

Every time there is an article about police performing their duty some members will discredit their work pointing at other crimes not tackled yet. Is there any country in the world that ALL committed crimes were solved? Is there a place in the world where there is no crime at all due to better policing than is done here, in Thailand?

well that is true, the crimes solved for breaking and entry by police in the UK is appallingly low, most times you just get a crime number for the insurance and if you accost a burglar in your own home and injure him you are in big trouble so we have nonsense laws as well but big crimes are solved in the main fairly quickly and traffic laws are strict and upheld. Usually though the cops in Europe don't make such fools of themselves as the cops in Thailand

The original Heading doesn't even mention dominoes, only Mahjong.

Why the need to go on about gambling debts, nobody is arguing?

Gambling is a big part of Thai culture and I know all the laws as I was an online poker pro for 5 years.

https://www.imolin.org/doc/amlid/Thailand_Gambling Act B E 2478.pdf

I have been arrested for playing poker live but let off for a warning. In my 31 years, I've never known of ANY punter to be fined more than 1000 baht. It's not serious. They just do these raids from time to time.

What's next - a raid on Dominoe's Pizza?

According to "Mad Mitch"   ID 89. It has already happened , and  police are perplexed and confused , having found no evidence. There must have been a tip off !

Charged with gambling.

While playing in a gambling den.

Please respect the laws of Thailand.

If these (evident) criminals did, they would not have been charged with illegal activities.

Fellow posters. Respect and abide by the laws of the country you have chosen to reside in.

This is not the original source heading. It has been mistranslated by someone or translated by someone to make it look worse than it is.

Sorry, I thought you meant the ThaiVisa heading as that is the post that we are discussing - the one you refer to is in Thai, and  would imagine that  90% of posters (myself included)  would not understand a word of of it!
