how to make ( caa moo ) ( paa lo )

hope i have used the prper wording for these dishes,     i want to know how to make caa moo and paa lo.   i love the aniseed flavour of paa lo.   im buying a new slow cooker so i would imiagine i put a shank of pork leg in there ?   

 

please advise,   also can i use the ( star ) aniseed in caa moo also ?     im back in uk  and can source most ingredients from local asian supermarkets.

If you Google for kha moo palo you'll find a load of recipes.

 

The aniseed flavour comes from the phalo powder, which is known as "Chinese five spice powder" in English.  Readily available in any British supermarket.

A slow cooker is also not required. My family just does it in a large pot with a lid and it basically simmers for almost 2 hours. I recommend searing the meat in a nice hot pan before "stewing" it. You get nice color on the meat and it just taste better overall.
