Maybe mama had left the baby with someone whilst she worked overnight and was on the way home?

does not give him the right to try to run away after hitting someone.

this hit and run has to stop. the driver should be man enough to own up an accident. the penalty should be enhanced significantly  with mandatory jail sentence for hit an run cases.

Tragic for all concerned....May the deceased RIP and the injured make a full recovery.

Another reason to get down on my knees and thank the HP that I managed to kick the booze.

PS. I also hope the driver of the car gets all the help he most lightly will need for the rest of his life.

So sad for the family.  RIP Mom and Baby.

As for the drunk, fleeing from the accident hope he

gets 10 years in prison and 1m Baht fine.  Drunks

on the road a danger to everyone

Some people will never become mature. If i would drink and drive, I surely wouldn't speeding. I would do the best to drive defensive. Apart from that, It's not necessary to be under influence of alcohol to drive as a jerk.

There is no punishment harsh enough!

Few think of the emergency responders who experience this horror. God bless them.

When I read tragic stories like this I sometimes wish we could introduce "ear for an ear". I would love to put the Russan on a small bike at an intersection while I slammed into him in my humvee!

In which case you are no better than him and we need to go look for someone who wants to slam his car into you while standing on a small bike at an intersection.

he should get what an ordinary Thai would get for a similar offence  - no more and no less.

What would an ordinary Thai get

Perhaps a 500b fine?

the standard payout is 50K for the cops and 200k to the family. may be more as 2 people were killed. i know an english guy who paid this sum and spent one night locked in the police station. an ordinary thai cant afford this so normally they would go of to jail. of course we will never know the end result but i am sure it will be something along these lines.

HP = higher power

The problem is that many men associate powerful motor bikes and speed with excitement and drive dangerously.
