Up til now the Thai ministry lawyers have given us a free ride on getting our volunteer visas and work permits. Now the cost is 10,000 baht per person for the work permit and 1 year visa renewal (Apart from the actual 3100 and 1900 baht). I am married to a farang. I want to get the work permit and visas myself. I need a list of requirements. Online I only found instructions for those retiring or married to a Thai. Can you help me?

What do you mean by the comment " Thai ministry lawyers"?

If you are working as a volunteer the organization you are working with should handle the work permit and extension of stay applications.

The organization used to do the work of getting the visa/work permit for free. (of course I paid for the work permit and visa). Now we must pay him for this work, and the fee is not cheap. Better to do it myself if possible, therefore I looked and did not find exactly what papers I needed. That is what I am asking for. Can you help? Do you know? can you lead me to an exact site where they specify what is needed? No Thai wife.

Today I found a site that doesn't list everythin but is helpful. I still have some questions. See the following:

Non-Immigrant -O form

Must I make a copy of every page of the passport that is used?

How many Recent (4 x 6 cm.) photograph(s)?  White back ground or colored?

Do I need papers showing my address? registered address (can involve having copy of house owner's ID plus a form from Immigration signed by owner)?

Do I need to show a form stating I have a bank account?

Do I need  Copy of registration certificate of the employer/foundation/organisation? any other papers?

Copy of the previous/current work permit (if any)

Do I need a paper that says I work voluntariy at a specific place?

Then what about renewing my work permit?

    •    2 inches photo  white or colored backgound?
    •    medical certificate   go to doctor at Ram and get form
    •    original passport    OK need photocopies of pages? which?
    •    letter of employment   from Organization?
    •    certificate of degree what is this? from College?
    •    address in Thailand  --Do I need papers showing my address? registered address (can involve having copy of house owner's ID plus a form from Immigration signed by owner)?

Then the site said the employer furnaces the following: How many of these are necessary for a volunteer organization?

  • company certificate and objectives
  • list of shareholders
  • application for VAT
  • withholding tax of the company
  • financial statement
  • photocopy of the director’s passport and work permit with signature affixed
  • office map
  • letter of employment stating position and salary of applicant
  • employment agreement
  •
