I already have a Cambodian visa, Can you tell me how to get there by bus, van or taxi, What is the name of the last Thai town before crossing how many Kms from here to there, Is Pailin as safe for foreigners as Kho Kong ? Can you recommend a good and safe hotel not far from the center, Thanks to all
NightRider70
The village right at the border on the Thai side is Baan Pakhad. The last town is Pong Nam Ron, this is where you turn off 317 and head east to the border. I drive myself so I do not know about public transport. It is about 240km from Pattaya to the border. I do not know how safe Pailin is compared to other places but it is not a high crime area. Places to stay in Pailin.
BritTim
There are buses to Baan Pakhad from Chantaburi (yes, you must go there and circle back if using public transport). If I remember correctly, it takes about an hour from Chantaburi. On the Cambodian side, you can get a taxi. As usual, at any border, they gouge you on the fare because they can. I do not know what kind of fare you could negotiate for a taxi from Pattaya to Baan Pakhad. It would be much quicker than using buses.
NightRider70
You can also stay in Prum, the village right behind the border on the Cambodian side. Places to stay in Prum.
