The Most Dangerous Countries to Travel to

Featured Replies

By Emily von Hoffmann on August 10, 2016

From the terror attacks in Nice, France to the ongoing spread of the Zika virus, the past year has been a dizzying one in terms of violence and disease outbreaks throughout the world. These factors, among others, increase the likelihood travelers will be required to stay up to date on travel safety advisories. Using 2016 data from the Canadian government and The Global Health Data Exchange, HealthGrove, a health visualization site by Graphiq, created an ascending list of the most dangerous countries to travel to.

Are there any safe places left?

Most of those countries listed have always been "unsafe" i.e. all of the middle east, african countries and most the latin american countries. What is most surprising now is the danger of traveling to european countries due to the recent migrant situation. Most "open border" countries are now unsafe. On that note, Hungary has kept its borders sealed so, if you are looking for a safe place to stay for a little while. That can be an option. Budapest isn't called "the paris of the east" for nothing.

they haven't listed the really dangerous ones where just the environment will kill you, eg Antartica
