I may have an opportunity to sell fried durian in the UK. The problem is that I don't know anything about the rules, regulations and lawas etc regarding importing foodstuff to UK. Also, forgive me for being naive, but does imported food have to be tested to say it's safe to eat? I would be grateful for any sensible advice.

Durian is freely available outside my local chinese supermarket.

i do know you will have to pay import duty on the imported items as well as VAT.

Walg, thanks for your reply. It's a pity that no one else seems to know, but there you are. I will have to look into it a bit more myself.

Call your local Ministry of Agriculture (or the equivalent for processed food) and ask them for any import-regulations.
