Hi, just a small question

I have a fiber connection with TOT ( 35/10 ) and I wonder  how many people can profit of my wi fi  without the connexion to be  slowed down

I have now 5 person

thanks a lot

Anytime you start sharing your bandwidth the maximum bandwidth any one person can receive is potentially decreased.   If all 5 people were using your 35Mb bandwidth "at the same time" then each would only get 7Mb assuming the Wifi router gave each an equal share.

Now if each person is just surfing the web/pulling up webpages which are pulled up/downloaded in just a few seconds with all 5 people clicking on a webpage at a different time then each could pull 35Mb.

A lot depends on exactly what type of internet activity each person is doing....just surfing, live video streaming, torrenting, emailing, etc.

What do you mean "profit" off it?

Are you selling it on?

No, but English is not my language, I don't know how you say, I mean " enjoy " the connexion

I know ( they are Thai ), they will just surf, Facebook, play games or look at videos

With that kind of usage 5 users sharing 35Mbps should be no problem. Even up to (say)10 users should still be ok unless they were all streaming youtube simultaneously, which is unlikely.

If not downloading large amounts of data (e.g.torrents) then the largest consumption of data will likely be from streaming video. I think a rule of thumb figure for Youtube streaming in HD would be an average of 5Mbps or less per stream.

You can regulate use depending on your routers features.

Thinks like QoS can control bandwidth usage, and if you want, you can simply ban bandwidth suckers like BitTorrent or limit it's use to overnight.
