Environmental training seminar being held for officials in the Northeast

The Department of Environmental Quality Promotion is arranging an environmental training seminar for local administrative officers in Surin province.

Mr. Sawad Tanadka, the head of the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Environment Office, presided over the seminar at Thong Tharin Hotel in Muang district, Surin. The seminar is being for tourism and local administrative officials to learn the techniques to manage the natural environment such as eliminating garbage and water pollution. Furthermore, they would develop an environmental plan for their local areas.

The seminar is being held from today to December 1st, 2006. Participants will learn the roles and duties of the local administrative organizations, the environmental rules and regulations, tourism management, and the strategies to help conserve and promote the natural environment.

150 officials from 19 northeastern provinces are attending the seminar.
