NAN: -- A lone robber staged a daring bank robbery at the Government Saving Bank branch at Nara supermarket in Nan province and escaped with almost 300,000 baht in cash.

But the armed robber was apprehended shortly afterwards by two Samaritans as he was trying to speed off in a motorcycle.

The robber was later identified as Narit Amatyasak, 40, a branch manager of a soft drink company in Nan.

Narit admitted to the bank robbery saying he was heavily in debt after suffering over 3 million baht loss in doing a business.

He said he planned the robbery three days before by making survey the branch, and robbed the bank at 1.30 pm yesterday when there was few clients.

Police said the robber covered license plate of his motorcycle with stickers before riding into the market’s parking space.

What kind of sideline business would make a loss of Bt3m when you have to work 9-10 hours a day as manager?

I suspect gambling as the reason for such a big loss...

Maybe he had a girlfriend from Pattaya.

...always a ready 'excuse'.....

...like 5-year-olds.....

...sick....and scary.......

The two guys who chased and caught the robber deserve a medal, although I expect that it will be the police who claim it.

it is either a partnership or an earlier business.

robbing peter to pay paul or in this case  robbing bank topay off debts. does not make sense either way. people do the weirdest things in desperation or frustration and this is one of the possible factors in this case.

have you heard of "heroes" who  stand for injustice and in the heat of the moment they act without realising potential consequences e.g. in case the robber is armed. we should salute them for their guts and sense of social service. a token of bravery should be awarded to them by the police at a proper ceremony to create greater awareness amongst people.

No cant say I have

I have heard of heroes who stand UP AGAINST injustice if that is what you are waffling on about  squire

History is littered with many brave men and women

This thread was nothing to do with injustice it was a simple criminal act, an ARMED robbery to be precise

I STAND by my comment ANY member of the public who gets involved in such an incident is mentally retarded

Their first responsibility is to their immediate families and of course themselves

This is my opinion which I am entitled to hold

Yours differs from mine so be it

You SIR, have my blessing to go seeking a commendation / medal

I look forward to reading about your exploits on the forum

Have a nice day
