Was going from Win. 7 to Win. 10 an easy transition?

Featured Replies

This question is directed more at the novices than the computer geeks. I have been using Win. 7 for over 7 years and it's second nature to me now. However, the new computer I'm intending to buy comes pre-loaded with Win. 10, will I find it easy to adapt?

Going from Win7 to Win 10, if you don't like what you first see then download Classic Shell which will bring back the general appearance of Win 7.

Do that for a better user experience on desktops or laptops without a touchscreen.

Thanks, didn't know about that.

I don't know how W10 looks pre-installed on a new computer.

I did the upgrade from W7 to W10 and did not need additional tools (shells) to get very close to the classic W7 (Desktop, Start Menu) appearance.

As far as I know the "classic shell" is built into W10 (again), different from that W8 flop.

Some of the simplifications in W10 are laughable like those huge simplified control panel dialogs.

Looks nidicolous on a full size screen.

Good enough there often extended buttons that lead to the well known control panel dialogs.

The latest "Anniversary Update" did some changes on the start menu (yet again).

So be it.

Just noticed that the registry hack to get the analog dual time zone clock back has been overwritten by this :annoyed:

I bought a new Dell Precision desk top computer. It came with Windows 8.1. I hated that system. When I got the chance, I allowed Windows 10 to download and install. There wasn't much of a learning curve and as long as you allow Windows 10 to do its thing, I doubt you will have any problems.
