My True internet connection has gone done about 4 or 5 times in the last 2 weeks. I'm starting to wonder if the 600 baht per month is worth it when I am tethering my phone to my computer and getting a better (although costlier) connection.

I can buy 3 gb a day from AIS for 50 baht. I usually don't go near that. 20 baht for 500mb is also an option (though that might not cover me some days), It would be a little annoying to have to make a call every day, but if 3g and 4g is extremely reliable I just might. Do you guys think phone data plans are good enough these days to use as a primary internet connection?

I've been using my AIS4G connection tethered to my PC for the past 2 days as my regular 3BB connection is not working.  The connection has not failed once and the speed is better than I get from 3BB.  Not a long term test but over this short period has been just fine, used about 1.5GB so far.

I have True fiber optic here in the countryside (Prachinburi) and it has never failed during the one year I have had it. DL speed is +30Mbs but from Europe and USA DL goes down to 5-10 Mbps.

I also have true 4G on my phone and it has never failed as well for the four months I have used it so far. I use it everyday frequently and have a max roof of 10GB/m for 1200 Baht/m. DL speed in Thailand is +50Mbps but like the fiber, trying to download from USA or Europe it goes down to 5 - 10 Mbps.

I have been using AIS 3G for a few years when I stay up country. Reliable most of the time, but subject to weather conditions. A storm can knock out my signal for hours or even overnight - both phone and dongle, and you are then left with zero contact with the outside world. This happens two or three times a year.

Quite often the connection is cut, obliging you to re-connect - at least twice a day, quite often more, even when the signal is above 90%. I suspect they may do this to save bandwidth? If you use AIS as a primary source, a back up is therefore advisable.
