PATTAYA:-- At 10.30am, on the morning of October 7, police and fire-fighters received reports of an incident at Royal View Apartments on Soi Kasetsin 3, Pratumnak Hill, Pattaya.

Four fire appliances attended the scene as smoke billowed out of room number 405 on the 4th floor. Fire-fighters tackled the blaze for thirty-minutes before subduing the flames.

Mr Chamnong Pansurin, a fifty-four-year old maintenance man at the building, said that the condo was empty and he had been employed by the owner to carry out some maintenance work.

He said he was cutting tiles when he was called from the room by a maid, who asked him to repair a toilet hose in another room. He says he unplugged the electric cutter before he left.

When he went back to room 405 he says there was ‘chaos’ as the room was on fire.

Investigating officers are assuming an electrical short-circuit cause the blaze.

The cost of repair has been estimated at 200,000 baht.

so obviously the cutter wasn't disconnected

the freakin' plug is IN the wall socket

An no doubt the poor owner will hav to foot the bill. Mind u he's prob Russian in that area.  ?

sure some human error. a short circuit is not possible from a disconnected appliance or tool. some element of negligence was there.

he may have fire insurance policy and get it all sorted out with the company.

most likely scenario.of course the worker will deny his negligence.

Or he was shooting sparks at a curtain or something, kind of unlikely from cutting tile though.
