October 8, 20169 yr Hello, Could anyone please answer a couple of queries for me please? I have tried to find the answers myself but several links on websites are broken so I can't find the answers! I need to apply for a Non immigrant O visa (from the uk) to visit my Thai husband- I intend to live in Thailand with him. Is there a minimum amount I need financially? From the embassy website I cannot work out if it is 20,000 baht, £1400 per month for 3 months or just 3 months bank statements and £1400 per year? Also when applying for the year marriage certificate when in Thailand do I now need 400,000 In The bank and 40,000 Income a month? I have never needed this before but from what I see it is now a requirement? I won't have this much income, does that mean I now will not be entitled to a year visa? Last question! I am travelling with my half Thai children, one has Thai and British passports, the 2 youngest just British. I previously got non-immigrant O visas for the youngest but was told I didn't need to extend them for a year as they are under 15/16(?) they do not require visas.. Does that mean I do not need to get them the non immigrant O to get into Thailand this time? They can just arrive on a tourist visa on arrival and stay in Thailand as long as they like?? Thank you in advance for any help!
October 8, 20169 yr You do not need any money beyond the cost of the visa and and the extension of stay (it is not a "certificate") When applying for the extension of stay your husband may be required to demonstrate he can support you and the children financially. You will need signed copies of your marriage certificate, your husbands ID card and his Tabian Baan to obtain the visa. The children without Thai passports should have appropriate visas. Why not obtain Thai passports for the two children? Doing that will make life much easier.
October 8, 20169 yr Author Thank you, I've been worrying that we wouldn't be able to stay there with him as have never needed to show any finances before! Both parents need to be present to apply for a Thai passport from the London embassy and my husband hasn't been able to get a visa to come here this time. We were hoping to get our middle child a passport when he was here. I've come back to the UK to have a baby so can't get them Thai passports now but hoping to get them in Thailand, assuming we can, I've not looked into it yet though :/ Many thanks :)
October 8, 20169 yr Author Sorry, I've just been reading through previous posts and a lot of people talk about needing 400,000 baht in the bank or 40,000 baht per month income.. I've never shown this before when I've made an extension of stay based on marriage. I'm still confused as to whether I need this or not, it seems everyone else has had to show that they have it?

If you have not been proving 400K Bht Thai bank or 40K/month income it is unlikely that you have ever obtained a 12 month extension of stay based on marriage. What have you been obtaining ?
October 8, 20169 yr Author That's what I've always done, come in on a non immigrant O, then had the years marriage extension. To be fair the last couple of times I've had to leave whilst on the 30 day under consideration stamp, but I've not even been asked to show any bank statements? Just marriage certificate, husbands documents, someone to sign for is etc.. We don't earn that much, if I were asked to show it I wouldn't be able to, really worried now!
October 8, 20169 yr Author *I should clarify that I've left whilst under consideration as needed to come home unexpectadly, not that I was asked to leave!!
October 8, 20169 yr As a foreign female married to a Thai national you do not have to show any bank statements. The 400,000 or 40,000 baht per month in a a bank statement is only aimed at male foreigners. Thai logic is still 18th century and only the guy has to proved for the family. As long as your husband can get all the right paper work done and maybe a good friend as a backer, you will be fine. For females it is much easier than males to stay in Thailand through the Non-O process.

If you are a woman married to a Thai you are privileged in not having to meet any financial requirements.
October 8, 20169 yr You don't need to provide and financials to get a visa. You do not have to provide any financials for a 1 year extension of stay as the wife of a Thai. That rule only applies to foreign husbands. Your children are not half anything. They have dual nationality. If they don't have Thai passports they can enter using their British passports under the visa exempt scheme. Once they are in the country they can stay as long as they want by right as the are Thai. Get Thai passports for them when you are in Thailand, and if they ever exit again use the Thai passports. They will have a technical overstay on the British entry, but as they are Thai they cannot, legally, be fined and cannot be banned.
